About Our Guruji
Pandit Bhisham "Jito" Misir
Pandit Bhisham “Jito” Misir, known with deep affection and reverence as Guruji Misir, is a distinguished Hindu priest, teacher, and spiritual guide whose life has been devoted to the preservation, teaching, and lived practice of Sanātana Dharma—Eternal Righteousness. His journey from a spiritually enriched childhood in South America to becoming a respected Guru in the United States is a testament to devotion, discipline, and destiny.
Guruji Misir was born into the Brahmin caste in the United States in the summer of 1970, but was soon taken to Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, where he spent his formative years. Raised primarily by his āji and āja, his maternal grandparents, he grew up in a household filled with devotion, prayer, and traditional Hindu values. The influence of his paternal grandfather, Bhagat Maraj Misir, a well-known Pandit and Guruji of Enmore, East Coast Guyana, deeply shaped his spiritual temperament. Surrounded by elders who lived with discipline and reverence, young Bhisham learned early the meaning of dharma, humility, and a god-centered life.
